Dr. Venkata Bhaskar Rao Dodla is a renowned meteorologist who completed his M.Sc. (Tech.) in Meteorology and Oceanography and PhD degree in meteorology from the Andhra University (AU) in 1969 and 1976 respectively. He also served the same Department as Professor and Head till 2001. He was also the Chairman, Board of Studies in the Department during the period 2001 to 2004. He was visiting professor in Jackson State University, USA for four years from 2009 to 2013. Further, Dr.BhaskarRao served K.L.University as Professor and Director for a period of three years from 2009 to 2013.

Prof. Bhaskar Rao has mentored more than 100 M.Tech./M.Sc. students and supervised 18 PhD students. He has published 76 peer reviewed papers in reputed journals. Two books and 7 book chapters are also to his credit.  Dr.BhaskarRao has been bestowed with several awards which include Dr. B.N. Desai Award (IMS), Best Paper in VayuMandal (IMS) and Best Researcher (AU) and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award for Best Academician (AU). He is Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), Indian Geophysical Union and Andhra Pradesh Akademi of Sciences. Prof.BhaskarRao has also contributed to research in meteorology immensely as Honorary Professor, Andhra University and Distinguished Visiting Professor, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology.
